Collective self-consumption usually involves a condominium or multiple units in the same building. A Renewable Energy Community (REC), on the other hand, can bring together multiple users in the same grid area (same transformer substation). The operational steps are similar; in collective self-consumption the legal entity already exists (the condominium).
